rustic yet modern...

Part of my most amazing team:  1 of my Design producers, RUTH (Jen is the other one & the two of them together are like super heros!) that has to run all over town making sure she can get me all the stuff I have asked for in time, along with keeping me in check as far as the budget is concerned...AND making sure everything gets delivered on time, the construction crews are happy and that everything runs smoothly.  I would be LOST without Ruth & Jen!

Also, Danny & Rupert (Rupert in the one with glasses) are just two of my incredible carpentry team that builds miracles every week!  I ask the impossible of them within the time frame and budget we have, and they more than deliver!  (Jason, Ron, Jacob, Pahl & Jared are of course the others that are not pictured at this time).

Bedrooms, above all else, should be comfortable and cozy.  That is only part of what Noah & Shelly wanted.  They love the rustic feel of certain elements but wanted to find a way to accompany that with some modern lines and conveniences like a flat screen TV, hardwood floors, luxurious bedding, new clean-lined furnishings and streamlined closet storage.

We gave them as much of that (and a bit more) as possible.  They were both excited to get this project started and even though they weren't 100% sure what choices to go with, they definitely found some AMAZING inspirations from the "Rate My Space" site to help them.

-JANELL has a stacked stone fireplace that is absolutely gorgeous.  Did I mention that it's gorgeous?  Seriously beautiful and even though Janell's living room is much bigger than Noah & Shelly's bedroom and also has a much higher ceiling, we wanted to incorporate the rustic feel of Janell's beautiful fireplace and mantle.

-CHRIS & ROBIN have really beautiful hardwood floors and white, crisp molding that both Noah & Shelly would like to find a way to use in their bedroom.  The inspirational bedroom has a contemporary look that appeals to both of them.

-JONAS & SARAH have a really wonderful bedroom that is all about clean lines and earth tones.  Noah & Shelly were quite drawn to the upholstered headboard and want to find a way to create their version of that.

A BIG THANK YOU to all the inspirational homeowner's for being so on board with the whole process and helping to give Noah & Shelly something to shoot for in terms of a design plan!

ALSO, let's not forget the AMAZING group of people (my superFantastic team) that helps me make this and all other transformations happen:  Jared, Ruth, Danny, Rupert, Pahl & Ivana.

I really do not know how this is possible. I just watched the clip of the reveal on the HGV web site and I am BLOWN AWAY! I can't wait to see the show tomorrow. What a great Holiday treat. A great dinner with family & friends and then I get to watch you work your magic. This bedroom turned out beautifully! These guys are SO LUCKY!

WOW! This room is really cool looking. Do the homeowner's on these shows you do just fall apart when you show them the finished product? I don't know if I could keep it together. The scope of these makeovers and attention to detail is incredible and even beyond that, you just seem to get who these people are. Congratulations on all your success and I am looking forward to tonight's show. I watched the reveal on the HGTV web site and it looks amazing.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! What has prepared you for your current level of attention and recognition? Would you want to become "branded" like Bobby Flay or Bob Villa? How much recogintion is enough, how much is too much? How do you feel about the flirts you get on your blog?

Hi Jessie,
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.

I don't think anything ever prepares you for any level of attention/recognition. As far as all the other stuff is concerned--I am still trying to figure it all out.

This room is just gorgeous. I love it all. That wall color is really beautiful and I'm not even a big blue person. All of it works perfectly.

So, are you a wizard? I have no idea how you do this week after week. I have been a fan since your Clean Sweep days. I even saw that show you did on Lifetime. Anyway, for years I have been watching you do amazing things on a budget and now you're doing it with a bigger budget and you're still surprising me with your ingenuity, talent, creativity and boundless charm. Can you tell I'm a fan. Congratulations with all your success and I hope it continues to grow.

OMG you have mad first when I heard the term rustic I thought, oh boy I don't think I will like this one. BUT, and it's a big but, you knocked it out of the park.

Truly beautiful. I love all the details. That ginormous mirror is gorgeous and that bed-- to die for.

I love all your work!

A huge fan,

I really love this room! I am about to take on painting and adding decorative touches to my bedroom. I really like the curtains; what is the name of the curtains? I know they are from Crate and Barrel, but I'd like to maybe get for my bedroom.

Hi Joseph and Aggie,

Thanks for the comment!

That episode was filmed over a year ago and I don't remember the name of those exact curtain panels from Crate & Barrel. I just went onto their web site and didn't see them there, so they may no longer carry that style since it's been a while. Places like West Elm. Pottery Barn & Z-Gallerie carry a similar style with the rings on top if you want to check there for something you may like.

All the Best!

Hi Jessey-

Thank you so much!

Right now only Season 1 is on and on iTunes.

Hopefully Season 2 (which is this episode) will be placed on there soon by HGTV.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

All the Best,
