ringing it in...

For the past few years I've been going to Pasadena, the site of the Rose Parade, the night before the actual "Big Event.".  For me & my friends it's been a great and festive way to ring in the New Year.  Home-Made cookies and some coffee or hot chocolate and we're good to go.  The night before the parade the City of Pasadena and the Rose Parade Committee line up all the floats on Orange Grove Blvd., with a bunch of flood lights for last minute inspections and tweaks by the float designers & volunteers.

The street is filled with people taking picture, admiring the amazing artistry and I have to tell you, the floats in person are SO INCREDIBLE!  It's amazing what these designers and volunteers are able to accomplish year after year.  How cool would it be to design a float?!

My iphone pics do not do them justice.

How cool! You look so handsome. I hope Oscar was kind. Is he a fan of Rate My Space? He needs a makeover.

This looks like fun.

We hung out at home and played it safe.

We stayed indoors and watched the CNN countdown. The float thing seems really fun and I think we may look into that next year. The kids would love it.

Hope you have a wonderful 2009 Angelo.

We love your shows.

We had friends and family over at our place and they all spent the night. This morning we had a fantastic New Year's breakfast, watched the Rose Parade and we were hoping to see you there. We love the idea of seeing the floats up close. I bet they are amazing and a bit overwhelming.

Thank you for an incredible year of inspiration and we look forward to more in '09 and beyond.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Angelo!

That sounds like a great way to ring the New Year to me, especially the cookies and hot chocolate.

We decided to go out to "fancy" hotel and spend the night in the city and wake up the next day in a new place, have a late breakfast and be thankful for all that is good and all that is possible in '09.

Hope you '09 is more wonderful than you could have ever imagined for yourself and we look forward to seeing what you're up to on TV and in the world.

We love your show.

Looks like you had a great time and the cookies were not too far behind. I hope you kept them away from the "grouch."

We went to church and then went over to my parent's home for a late night dinner. Lots of friends and family and lots & lots of food!

Happy New Year Angelo and keep those great shows, ideas and inspiration coming!

OMG! We were there too! My husband swore he saw you, but I told him it couldn't be. There were so many people there that we got lost in the shuffle.

You are MY FAVORITE and my husband and I watch you all the time. You have helped us so much, I can't even tell you. Not only are you a great designer, but you are a fantastic and charming TV personality. My husband works in TV and when we watch the show he always says. "I want to put this guy in one of my shows. He's better than this." HA! I'm sure he would have chatted you up.

We love your work and wish you an amazing 2009!
Glad to hear you like the Rose Parade floats as much as we do.

BTW, I think you're incredible handsome.

That sounds like it would be fun. We did our annual dinner with friends, played silly board games and watched the countdown in NYC.

Have a wonderful New Year.

We laid low this year as well. I think we're getting too old for the "party" thang. We're not even 30 yet! What does that say about us.? UGH!

Sounds like you had fun though.

Have a wonderful 2009 and thank you for the much needed design inspiration and your enthusiasm.
