new season...

Season 3 of HGTV's "Rate My Space" is here.

Wednesday April 1st at 8:30pm e/p

The Season gets kicked off with single mom Denise Jaxon.  She has a beautiful and traditional craftsman-style home in the heart of a classic, craftsman neighborhood in Los Angeles.  She loves the style of her home but wants to bring some modern styling that feel like part of this historic home, not independent of it.  A soothing color palette gets the ball rolling for me and my team and custom made baseboards add an incredibly bold yet classic element.  My carpenter, Jared Dostie, works his magic on an original craftsman-style entry table with tapered legs to add to the modern flair.  Brand new low-slung seating that combines both styles that Denise is trying to incorporate and a new tiled fireplace surround that restores the room's focal point to it's craftsman roots!

A new season.
A new episode.
New homeowner's and their RMS inspirations.
Same awesome place to be: "Rate My Space"

hope you can join us.

Excellent. Thanks for the "heads up." You're like a one man marching band! LOVE your enthusiasm. Have been a huge fan since "Merge" days. Remember those? I also loved "Clean Sweep!" RMS is so great and you are amazing.

Great. I did not know. My TIVO is set as well. I have to say, you're the reason I watch the HG. Are you planning any new types of shows? Looking forward to the furniture line as well. Can't wait to see pics.

I'm there. When are we going to have a bit more info on the furniture? Pics? Details? I'm sorry. I need some new stuff. I just bought a condo (great deal) and I am waiting for your line. You are my favorite designer and have been for years.

RMS is the only show I watch on HG. My TV is usually on the Food Network and sometimes on Style. Sometimes. You are incredible. Great new pic btw.

Bring it on! I cannot wait. As much as I enjoy re-watching you, I am ready for some new ideas and new rooms from you. It can be the "all angelo, all the time" network as far as I'm concerned. Let me know when you do that? Ha! I agree, gorgeous pic of a beautiful man!

Can't wait to see it. The Craftsman style is my absolute favorite.

I have a craftsman styled home. I am excited to see this episode because I struggle with the same issue. I love the craftsman style and architecture, but want to find a way to update the look without disturbing the "bones" of the place. I don't want my home to feel like a craftsman museum. I want it to have a fresh look while still honoring the style. Does that make any sense to you? It sounds like that's what might be happening tomorrow and I am excited to see it. I really love your show and even more, your style.

Craftsman is not necessarily my style. I am very interested to see what you do. I love your style. Hope the new season goes well and looking forward to the new furniture line.

Wishing you and your staff the same success that you've had in previous Seasons.

Hoping one day the series will come to C-A-N-A-D-A.
Sincerely,

I wish you more success with this and each season than you could ever have imagined. No matter what show or network you're on, I will tune in. I met you years ago at a Home & Garden Show appearance you did in Colorado Springs (you were on TLC's Clean Sweep at the time) and my husband and I were touched and blown away by your one on one kindness and time with each and every person. You are the genuine article. Every time we watch you on RMS, my husband turns to me and says, "that guy is the genuine article." I agree. Many, Many congrats on all your success and or future ones to come.

At the risk of being redundant, I adore you and your show.

I am excited about the new season! Do you ever rest? I follow you on FaceBook and Twitter. All you do is work. I don't want my favorite designer and tv personality to burn himself out. Though it does seem that you enjoy your coffee and tasty pastries. A man after my own heart. Oh, BTW--feel free to give us a sneak peak on this new furniture of yours. I'm dying here.

See you tomorrow. On TV!

Season 3! Yes, please. Ha, Ha. I am looking forward to it. Thank you for posting all the color & product detail as well from each episode. It's easier to navigate and get info than on the RMS web site.

I did not know about the new season and I have been a loyal viewer. Thank you for the info.

As I wait for 8:30pm (will be doing the 'happy dance' intermittently today) I have two questions for you. First, since HGTV foots the bill for RMS, how much input do the HOs get? If you come up with something that they strongly dislike, do you change your design or do you try to convince them to go with it?

Secondly, is your RMS staff that same as your Swell Space staff? How would you describe your managerial style?

Jessie (who apparently can't count!)

We are throwing a viewing party and can't wait! Thank you for the reminder.

Jessie (Anonymous)-

The HO's have input when I scout the location and ask them what they would like to see. That is their big chance to give ,e their likes and dislikes. I then present my team and the production co. a design plan with a week or less so we can get started. Since we have appox 5 working days and 5 shooting days (no real construction work gets accomplished on shooting days due to sound and cameras) everything has to be be pre-ordered and pre-bought in order to make the very tight reveal deadline. There is very little wiggle room to go into another design direction once we've started. Unlike a real life makeover or one with a non TV client, timing, very strict budgets as well as hardly no room for mistakes and do-overs, is the name of the RMS game. It's essential that i understand what our HO's want from the get go so I don't take them down the wrong path. I ask A LOT of questions and play CSI Designer in their home before coming up with a plan.

My RMS team is just for RMS.

You would have to ask them what they think my managerial style is. I think I'm fair, but it's difficult to be objective about yourself. I will tell you this, one of the key components to my managerial style is brining them baked good on a regular basis!

Cosmopolitan craftsman. Love that name. I'm watching the show right now as I'm writing this. Dude you rock. The look is so comfortable, and cozy. I like how the black lounger acted as a divider but yet it blends in with the whole room and style. LOVE IT.

I feel like your are better than the show. Sorry, but I do. I don't know if this is your idea or you produce it, but you should think about something that matches your aesthetic, personality and mind. My two cents.
