episode 304...

photo: iphone/swell-space

Season 3 has been kicked off with a wonderful homeowner--Denise Jaxon!  She is a single mom who could not have been more charming. Denise's emotional & genuine reaction to the reveal, along with her daughter's--Taylor, had us all going.  Thank you Denise & Taylor for everything. It was an honor to share your home with you for a short time.  Enjoy your new room.

Her craftsman home is beautiful and she wanted to bring her decorating style up to date.  We did that for her and went in a direction that felt like the right mix for Denise's aesthetic.  She had some pretty wonderful inspiration from the RMS community:

-Sherry & Ron have a stunning home that they have lovingly decorated. Denise was inspired by the combination of dark & light colors as well as all the different furniture types.

-Michelle & George inspired Denise with their fireplace as focal point. Denise wanted to find a way to make her fireplace subtle yet gorgeous all at the same time.  She wanted it to feel craftsman without being overpowering.

-Annie & Charles were able to create an open-concept living area with two separate spaces due in part to the backless chaise.  Denise wanted to incorporate that look.

Many "THANKS" to all the RMS inspirational HO's who are always a big part of our show.

All this work in a short amount of time doesn't happen without an incredible team working very hard.  Jared, Jen, Ruth, Danny, Jason, Rupert & Ron made so much of this happen.  Jared even made a beautiful entry table in his wood shop that combined Denise's love of craftsman style along with her cosmopolitan lifestyle.  Also, my favorite--you all got to see a lot of my crew making it all happen.  I am so proud of you all.  Thank you guys for your constant support and commitment to the job at hand.

RESOURCES:

-All colors/paint, wood, rugs, mirror above fireplace, fireplace tile surround, entry table lamp, curtains and curtain rod:  LOWE'S
Wall color: Martha Stewart's Heirloom Shawl/Valspar paints---FYI, the color is much more muted and pale in person.  TV light make it look brighter and much more pink.  It's actually very soft.
Ceiling color: Eddie Bauer's Woodsmoke/Valspar paints
-Center/Focal Point antique tile on fireplace:  WELLS TILE
-Sectional:  PLUMMERS
-Round metal coffee table:  ROOM&BOARD
-Round wooden coffee table, chaise, (2) tan & wood trim chairs:  URBAN HOME
-Swivel chair and bookcase under new flat screen TV:  CRATE&BARREL
-Flat screen TV:  COSTCO
-Side tables, floor lamp, accessories: POTTERY BARN
-Additional accessories: HOME GOODS, IKEA, TARGET

This was a wonderful episode and a great makeover. The HO's reaction was really wonderful. I have to tell you, trying to find and get on to the HGTV rating and uploading pics web page isn't all that easy or fun. Just an FYI. BTW, the people that rate on there are a rough bunch. What are they looking for?

Drew said...

FANTASTIC!

Yes, her reaction was the best. I love that you are so invested in these makeovers. You can tell how much they mean to you as well as the client. Wonderful work.

Well, just as I thought. AMAZING. You are the man!

I am SO JEALOUS! I want to see this is Canada. HGTV PLEASE bring this show to us. Enough of Holmes on Holmes. It's good and all, but how many repeats & how many times a day can we watch this? I was in the states last year and watched HGTV. I guess it's lie your House Hunters or Designed To Sell. They run too much of that in the States.

Sorry for the venting. I wish the programming was a bit more diverse is all.

I'm glad that the HO was happy. I'm not surprised. You're awesome.

This definitely was my "note pad in hand" episode! Your take on HO's ideas and style is so fresh and original. I always feel like it's going too far during the process and I want to play it safe every time, but when you're done, it's perfect. How do you do that?

Amazing! Really just amazing... you nailed it.

I loved the way this episode featured more of the behind the scenes information, as well as highlighted some of the members of you team. I hope that'll be continued this season.

Looking forward to the rest of the season!

Jessie

ps. thanks for your answer earlier...I can't get enough of the behind the scenes stuff...it's captivating!

I'm thinking about saving on the amount of lights I use. Can you just come over and smile & laugh? it would light up my whole home.

Nice! Love your show & you. This was a great reveal. I tried to rate it, but couldn't get on the site.

We love you and we'd watch you on anything, but you have to tell your network to figure how to run a web site. it is impossible to find the RMS web page and then, try getting on to rate the room or leave a comment. Thank God for your blog, twitter and facebook or we would have thought tonight would be another repeat like the past month or so.

Thank you for keeping us posted and the makeover was amazing. No surprise, but always a surprise on how you pull off the unexpected. Keep rockin' it.

One of my favorite episodes! The look on your face during the reveal is priceless... :)

I watch your shows for YOUR reaction. You are the best. The HO's definitely are always moved and delighted, but your percolating enthusiasm and emotion is priceless and beautiful to see.

HOMERUN!

Thank you for posting info on the episodes. You are the best. She and her daughter were so beautiful and their reactions, priceless. I agree with Jillian & Lori Bee, watching you react is just as important to me. I rewind and watch the reactions again because I want to make sure I see yours as much as much as the homeowner's. Wonderful job. Always.

As we don't get the series here in Canada, I appreciate the photos and the resources. (Particularly the paint 'n colors.) Thank you!

Will the reveal of this episode be available on the HGTV website?

Jessie,

All episodes should eventually find their way onto the HGTV.com web site. The peeps in charge of that stuff should be handling as they get all the info settled and all the other stuff that goes into that.

I posted a comment earlier about the ampersand figurine (or wahtever you call it!) ... I found one : ). It was even on sale ... gotta love a deal!
