worth repeating...

Nothing incredibly new here.

We all know the power of DOMINO magazine and their book.  All of it just "got it."  They "got us."  The way we live, the way we want to live and ways to inspire us that felt accessible at every budget.

I am posting this because a day doesn't go by that I am not asked about a design/decorating book recommendation.  Let me start off by saying that there are SO MANY books on the subject of design that I love and I have in my home.  My house is bursting at the seams with many of them.  All great for different reasons.  I could recommend that you go out and buy dozens of books.

The question on a book to recommend tends to be about a single book that could be a resource in away that you can go back to over and over again for inspiration, how to and basic design skills.  DOMINO fits the bill beautifully.  Not only does it meet those needs and more, it's just a well put together resource.

It will get dog eared, marked up, post-it noted and USED.  That's the purpose of a great design book.  There are beautiful coffee table books that you look at and display and there are workbooks that help you get there.  This is a bit of both.

Angelo, Thanks for reminding me. I have breezed through it at B&N but didn't purchase it. I'll have to give it another peek. My bookcases are tilting, listing, sagging and bulging with all the design books that I have. I recently found a great book on table settings. Jog on over to my blog to view it. It was a post I did today. Have a great one.

Angelo, I fully agree. The fall of Domino Magazine into the abyss was a sad day for us all, but at least we have their book.

I purchased one for my sister shortly after falling in love with the magazine, then got nosy before wrapping it for her birthday. I loved the book so much that I went back and bought myself a copy. It's now the prettiest book on the shelf (as dog-eared and flagged as it is).

Hi Angelo, This is a great book, and for my age group...(30something)...you know, not to young, not too old...speaking of books...when are you going to write a book? (wink, wink ;)

Definitely one if my favorite books. I look at it all the time. I miss the magazine every month. Maybe it's time for the Angelo mag and books. You know you got some spare time somewhere!

Truly stunning book. Love the looks. The ideas and the idea that it could be done by any of us. I miss Domino.

Just found an old issue of Domino in a lounge at work. I stuck it under my shirt and smuggled it home. (Will return it later, of course.)

I have kept every one of my Domino Magazines. I have the book. I too gift the book. It is very sad that they are no longer around. There are so many other inferior deco mags that still are and I don't get it. I think you should definitely do the Angelo Book and Angelo mag. If Ty Pennington has a magazine and he's not a designer, you certainly can. There's always a way to squeeze some spare time from your schedule.

Definitely worth repeating. Love them and sad to not have them around anymore. I too saved all my issues and have the book.

Angelo, if you did do a book(s) and/or magazine what would you want it to look like? Be about? Point of view? Etc...

This has been on my wish list, but I haven't picked it up yet. I'll make a point to!

I love how Domino showed rooms that looked not only well designed, but real. Everything wasn't always my taste but it always felt attainable, even when it sometimes wasn't. I miss seeing them in my mailbox.

I am THERE! If you write a book I will wait in the world's longest line to have you sign it. I love your style, enthusiasm and the way you get people.
