there's my girl...

At the berlin premiere of the film...

Michelle Pfeiffer has a new movie out, CHERI.

Directed by Stephen Frears from a script by Christopher Hampton.
All of them collaborated on DANGEROUS LIAISONS, another movie favorite.

I haven't seen it yet but I will find the time soon.

"At 51, Michelle Pfeiffer has never--I mean it, never--looked more ravishing than she does on CHERI. As Lea, the fancy-free Paris courtesan of Colette's 1920 novel and it's sequel, the actress is twinkly and creamy-skinned--a glowing, knowing, ageless coquette. But the real freshness of her performance is that, in a movie that Lea involve herself with a much younger man--the louche, gullible Cheri (Rupert Friend), who's the wealthy son of one of her courtesan colleagues (Katy Bates)--Pfeiffer transcends any hit of cliche "cougar" voraciousness...."

It doesn't get better than that. Thank you Mr. Gleiberman. Can't wait. Hopefully one day she will actually get one of those gold statues she keeps getting nominated for.

I read that review as well and was SO excited. Love Michelle Pfeiffer! Can't wait to see it. You do beautiful work, btw. Looking forward to reading more posts.

She has a classic timeless look and I'm glad to see that she is aging gracefully! Too many of the actresses in her age range get "work done" and they look horrible. Sounds like a good movie.

Fabulous Baker Boys, Tequila Sunrise, Dangerous Liasons, Batman? I'm soooo jealous of you, David E. Kelley!

The one I love is Kathy Bates - when she is on the screen all the others disappear, she is that great an actress.

I first read "Cheri" and "The Last of Cheri" in high school. I didn't know who Colette was (this WAS Bakersfield in the 1970's, after all), but I was browsing in a bookstore one day and liked the cover and her name (I WAS still a high school girl, after all). I loved the book and became a devoted Colette fan. I have MANY of her books and MANY biographies about her. In 1997 I visited the Musee Colette in Saint-Sauveur-en-Puisaye, France (Colette's birth place)and stood gazing at her childhood home. It was quite a high for me! I didn't know about this film, but am delighted to hear that it exists. I can't wait to see it; Cheri is such a wonderful story.

I think that this is a wonderful collaboration. From the screenwriter, director to the very talented cast. Michelle has always been one of those actresses that surprised and sneaks up on you with her talent. Often, because of how someone looks, you can overlook their other gifts. That, I think has been the case with her. She is so stunning and so "old Hollywood" gorgeous. Her acting is subtle as is her life. She doesn't show boat and in the process you can overlook her gift. I agree with the EW review. Some of her best wok and she has never looked more radiant. You are a wise man. Beauty & Substance.

I agree. She is amazing and I watch anything she's is. Does she know of your love, admiration and adorable school boy crush?

I think I've seen every movie she's ever been in. You know it's gonna be good one. She's a wonderful actress, and a beautiful woman. My sister's mother-in-law used to babysit her. She was one of the kids in the neighborhood. We all grew up in OC, Calif. It was a great place to be a kid. :)

Michelle and Kathy are two of my favourites and it sounds like a definitely 'must see'. I think its absolutely wonderful that there are still Movie roles for the mature Actress and Michelle will get her well deserved 'golden statue'.
