hello coffee...

photo: iphone/angelo:HOME

This picture is from JOE in nyc, when I was there last week. Some of the best espresso in the city. Right after I took this picture, I dove into that donut and it was pretty heavenly. The cappuccino and donut combo literally made me smile. I must have looked like a bit of an oddity to the other patrons--sitting there by myself just smiling into the abyss. I think I might have even moaned slightly after the first bite and sip. Dork. The week in nyc was long, hot, humid and not without it's challenges (all great stuff, will share soon) and this was the first time I actually had a chance to have a great cup of joe. I was smiling like a little kid with his first bicycle. Crazy good.

I am off to Seattle tomorrow (work related) and I think I will be partaking of the sweet nectar as often as possible. I'm only there till Friday, but I bet some caffeine damage can be done by then.

Hope all is well in your world and that wherever you are, there are plenty of good snacks and great surrounding.

I get it. The love of coffee. Here in Knoxville, some of the newest downtown lofts have been named for and built in the historic JFG Coffee building. One sixth-floor unit has a large, round hole in the living room ceiling - once home to JFG's "instant-coffee vacuum chamber." (*voice trails off; stares into space)

LOL! I loved this recounting of your "moment" with the coffee and donut. Too funny and all too real.

Welcome back AND safe travels.

If you need some good pastry/coffee experiences Seattle has some lovely options.
I would recommended:
Top Pot Doughnut (great coffee/espresso and awesome doughnuts)- http://www.toppotdoughnuts.com/

Yellowleaf Cupcake- Really strong coffee (no espresso) and transcendent cupcakes. The Frosting defies description. http://www.theyellowleafcupcake.com/

Macrina Bakery- Fantastic pastries and really good coffee/espresso. http://www.macrinabakery.com/

They are in Belltown (downtown), if you need other suggestions I am happy to give them to you.

Welcome to the Emerald City.

JUST SAW you waliking the streets of our fair city!!!!!

OMG. I smiled and you smiled right back. I wanted to say "HI" but I instantly turned into a giant goofball. You are SO handsome in person. OK, what I mean is even more so. Can you see why I should not have said "hi." I LOVE your shows, follow your blog and I even have a piece of your furniture now, the Costco Garbo chairs, LOVE THEM! You are too awesome and I saw you were going into a coffee house. Ha. Not surprised. Hope you are enjoying your time and from a very grateful fan, thank you for being you!

Hi Angelo,
Fancy meeting you here, blog world is a strange and wondrous place. I run on coffee, but try to give the "fatty delights" aka, donuts a wide berth. Love that hat!

I lost it at the moaned slightly part. Too freaking funny :) LOL

OK, I have to agree with Michael. The "moaned slightly" part had me snorting. I was not only laughing at the idea I was laughing at recognizing myself in that statement. Thank you for being who you are.

Cracking up over this post. I absolutely crave coffee in the morning. As I'm snuggled in my soft warm bed, I'm lured out by the thought of a great cup of java! Glad you had a great trip. Look forward to hearing more about it.
