red...

color block it:
There's a reason you always hear, "If you want to energize a room..."

Now, I've been more than guilty of using the standard *design speak* and I do cringe a little when I hear the words coming out of my mouth, but no matter how you address it--the color red (regardless the hue) will definitely make you notice a room along with giving your home some "energy."

Red appears only in my kitchen. It scares me in every other room.

Love the inclusion of the gnome image!

Love the red velvet cake batter--it's one of my specialties to bake...

I was daring a few years ago and bought a red recliner for my husband's 40th. Deep, rich red and the color definitely gives *pop* to the room. Not an ugly marshmallow recliner, either--similar in style to your Sutton chair. I don't regret it one bit.

Denise- I love that you called them "marshmallow recliners." I know they are supposed to be comfortable, but they make my eyes hurt. I have a recliner, that unfortunately I paid dearly for, but it's pretty great looking. GOOD FOR YOU for going for the red AND for getting one with style. Being comfortable does not have to look bad. BTW, did you say that red velvet is your specialty?! I'm at your door. You may want to open it...

Yes, as a teen, I learned to make red velvet cake in 1984 because my cousin wanted one for her wedding cake--a Lancaster Co, PA "thing" before is was made popular in STEEL MAGNOLIAS. My mom used to decorate cakes on the side and I was her helper; she made the wedding cake. Any time, call me and I'll make you one. Cream cheese or traditional "red velvet cake" icing (a special icing that is partially cooked then sugar, butter and vanilla is added). I promise it will be a moist cake--nothing worse than a dry, tasteless red velvet cake.

Hate those marshmallow recliners--just plain ugly. Refused to have one in my home.

Use it everywhere. I haven't had the courage to do a wall yet, but I'm loving the paint colors here. Hmmmm.
