small space style...

When working with a small room, feel free to use some big room ideas.

Here are 3 of my favorites!

1) You don't always have to put your sofa up against the wall. Try layering the room as well as creating some height. This helps in making a small room feel larger. The height of a pair of bookcases can also create the illusion of a taller ceiling.  Plus, you have now created another space for storage. Always awesome in a small space.

2) Center the room with the largest rug your budget can afford. This helps a room that is square foot challenged appear larger. Then, define it with a great coffee table. The one in the pic is perfect for a small room since it's open and airy (giving the feeling of space). Plus, the lower shelf can be used for my favorite

3) By giving a room a similar color palette, there won't be too much visual noise and it this will allow for a small room to feel expansive. You can add color and pattern in smaller accessory pieces (pillows & ottomans) for a dynamic look. Also, ottomans are a great way to add extra seating without having to take up to much valuable space.
