sometimes, you need to go big...

Most of my furniture designs are scaled on the smaller side.

Maybe it's because I have lived in space challenged places most of my life.

I have always struggled with finding affordable, stylish pieces that are the right scale for a small room. The kind of furniture that doesn't look like it came out of a box, even though it does.

Well, every once in a while...you gotta go big.

Even in a small room.

Adding at least one large piece can really help in creating the illusion of a larger space.

Here a few simple tips to make your small space stand tall:

1) Add tall bookcase. It can help give the illusion of a higher ceiling.

2) A larger rug can really create the feeling of more square footage.

3) And a full scale sofa, if the room allows for it, can really set the tone and give a small space a sense of space. Adding armless accent chairs also allow for extra seating without crowding the room.

If I could just pull it out of the computer screen and deposit it in my family room, life would be perfect!
